»Play is the highest form of research,« a really smart guy once said. His name was Albert Einstein. His quote is one of the key points presented at the prestigious innovation program Play User Lab, which ERNIT is a part of with a selected few other companies – all of which work within the space of children, play and education. The program is made by LEGO, Design School Kolding and the city of Billund under the umbrella Capital of Children.
The program basically consists of a series of workshops with focus on how children learn through things like physical play, imaginary play and gaming theory. International renowned play scholar Miguel Sicart, who has written books like Play Matters and Beyond Choices. The Design of Ethical Gameplay, are among the experts at the workshops. But the real experts at the Play User Lab are of course the children. And there are lots of them to test ERNIT, and give us feedback on both the piggy bank and the app.
Co-founder Thomas Bjerring even got to act like a child himself at one of the most recent workshops. He and some of the other grownups dressed up in big costumes in the shape of imaginary animals and played together to get them into a more childish mindset. A great learning experience on many levels for ERNIT and the other selected companies.
